Oscar-winning movies, BAFTA-winning TV shows – Paul Alexander has watched them all. But occasionally he opens his laptop and does a bit of writing.
On TV he has written for the Emmy-winning Red Dwarf, the Royal Television Society award-winning My Parents Are Aliens and the BAFTA-winning Revenge Files of Alistair Fury (CBBC).
For animation, he co-created the Dreamworks TV show Neighbors from Hell (for TBS), wrote several episodes of Horrid Henry and of Disney Channel’s animated musical series Groove High. In the ‘real’ world he spent a year toiling in the fields of Emmerdale, script-edited two series of John Sullivan’s Green Green Grass (BBC1) and created and wrote two dozen episodes of the family sitcom My Spy Family (for kids cable channel Boomerang).
Other TV credits include My Hero, Life of Riley, 2point4 Children, Goodnight Sweetheart, Lovejoy (BBC1); Jinx, Miami 7, LA 7, Hollywood 7 and Viva S-Club (CBBC); Help - I’m A Teenage Outlaw (CITV) and Summer in Transylvania (Nickelodeon).
His movie screenplays include Staggered, which he co-produced (named Best Film at the 14th International Festival Du Comedie) and Seeing Double (the S-Club movie!). He co-wrote four series of medieval comedy The Castle for Radio 4 and for theatre did the script revisions for Radio Times: The Musical and the Old Vic’s production of Aladdin.
In his spare time, Paul collects Tesco carrier bags. He doesn’t mean to, they just sort of appear.
